Two hand-crafted wooden sticks, intricately decorated with special symbols and colourful dots, which create rhythmic sounds when struck together. Clapsticks are traditional Aboriginal percussion instruments, primarily used to maintain rhythm during vocal chants, ceremonies and social dancing. Like many Indigenous objects, they have a multipurpose and are occasionally used for digging in the ground. As this is authentic Aboriginal art, we recommend not doing the latter!
